The 2018 Meadowlark Music Festival presented critically-acclaimed, world-class chamber artists in Lincoln and surrounding communities in July. Audiences heard the sublime sounds of acoustic guitar and double bass with Tim Berens and Frank Proto. Tim is virtuoso jazz and classical guitarist who also is the principal arranger for the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra and Frank was the Cincinnati Symphony's Composer-In-Residence and a member of their bass section for over 30 years. French pianist Marina Pacowski returned to Meadowlark to perform the world premiere of Frank Proto's Concerto for Piano and Strings and International Artist Guild Award winners, Sybarite5 String Quintet performed a stunning array of works, from Armenian Folksongs to Jimi Hendrix. Special events also included the world premiere of bassist Hans Sturm's Early Bird Project, featuring jazz vocalist Jackie Allen, in a program of pieces inspired by Nebraska singers and composers.
